Author Ransom Riggs traveled to Europe in search for the perfect house that will be the setting for his upcoming novel. Riggs teamed up with urban explorer and photographer Martino Zegwaard to photograph and document the inside of the homes, which he thought best represent the kind of houses described in the pages of his book.
The abandoned homes gave the duo something they never expected to see. Because what seemed to look like rotting waste of spaces on the outside, held within them histories and trinkets of the people who lived there a long time ago. Click play.
