Mental illness isn’t like any other illnesses that show physical symptoms that others can see, and in some ways relate to. It’s something that occurs only in the mind and in a sense – not visible to the naked eye.
This is one of the reasons why mental illness, such as anxiety, is one of the hardest things to explain to those who have never experienced it. When you struggle with anxiety, the people around you might have a difficult time understanding what you’re going through, wondering why you can’t control the way you’re feeling.
Sophie Wright, a sketch artist who also has experiences with anxiety (and who thinks some people tend to misunderstand the illness quite frequently), decided to produce a collection of sketches that perfectly explain what having an anxiety disorder is like.
Whether you suffer from anxiety, know someone who do, or simply just want to know more about it, Sophie’s sketches offer you some answers.
