In 1996, 20-year-old budding artist Mariam Fatima Paré was stopping at a red light when a fight broke out nearby. A gun fire erupted. A stray bullet struck Mariam in the back of her neck, paralyzing her instantly from the neck down.
It took her years of rehabilitation and relearning to do everyday activities. But her passion as an artist remains strong, or becomes even stronger. She discovers that if she can sign her name by holding a pencil in her mouth, then she can do the same with her paintbrush.
Marian began to practice painting every day using her mouth.
Here are some of her amazing paintings today:

Her works are so amazing. No one would ever guess that they’re painted by a quadriplegic mouth-painter.
