In 2008, a young designer named Luca Iaconi-Stewart decided to create a 1:60 scale replica of a Boeing 777. Five years later, he completed the coolest paper airplane ever. The crazy part is that he only used manila folders.
He began by tracing a can of cocoa on a piece of paper.

Then he started gluing together the cross section of the airplane.

The plane’s skeleton is now ready.

He added the “skin” of the fuselage.

It took many hours gluing and drying parts of the plane.

Now the body is taking shape.

He got his inspiration by looking carefully at models he saw in architecture class.

The detail is quite incredible.

Luca Iaconi-Stewart became obsessed with constructing the model. He dropped out of college to devote more time to completing it. When aviation experts saw the finished product, they’re pretty impressed and hailed Luca’s model as being entirely faithful to the actual aircraft’s design.
