John Bramblitt developed epilepsy when he was 11 years old. Over the next 19 years, it slowly took away his eyesight. By the age of 30, John was completely blind. In what we could only assume was a dark time, literally and emotionally, for John, he discovered a passion that brought color back into his life – art.
John, after going blind, began painting the most amazing artworks.

John said:
“When I lost my sight I began to learn how to use senses in new ways to accomplish tasks I was used to doing with my eyes.”
“I began painting because I wanted to reconnect with people; to let people know even though I have epilepsy, even though I am blind, I’m still me in here.”
“The recognition my painting and workshops has brought has meant more connections with an incredible number of brilliant people from all over.”
“It gives me a great optimism for the future.” (via Daily Mail)

John uses a special technique to create his artworks. First he forms a picture in his mind, then uses a special fabric paint with raised edges to sketch the outline of the image before filling in the gaps with paints with different textures based on color.

The results are amazing. John has sold limited edition prints of his work as well as original artworks. He’s clearly proven to us that despite our own disabilities or our shortcomings, physically or otherwise, we have it in us to be the best in whatever we chose to become.
