Hailey Fort may only be 9 years old but she sure can teach us a thing or two about kindness and compassion. When Hailey was 5 years old, she asked her mother, Miranda, about helping a homeless man in Bremerton, Washington, where she lives. Her mother said yes. Since then, they’ve worked together to help the needy.
Hailey spends her free time building mobile shelters for the homeless. Not only that, this amazing girl also grows food and provides toiletries for them, too!
A few years ago, Hailey asked her mother if she could help a homeless man by buying him a sandwich.

That humble sandwich has since evolved into a wonderful cause, Hailey’s Harvest, which aims to lend a helping hand to the less fortunate.

A helping hand, primarily in the form of mobile homes. “It just doesn’t seem right that there are homeless people,” Hailey told King 5 News.

“I think everyone should have a place to live.”

Hailey spends her free time building mobile shelters for the homeless. And thanks to the discounts she gets, each shelter costs only about $300 to build.

She gets some help and guidance from her parents but Hailey does much of the construction herself.

The mobile shelters measure 8x4ft (2.4×1.2m), completely roofed and windowed.

They are built with pallets, recycled denim insulation and wheels so they can be moved.

Aside from the mobile homes, Hailey also grows food for the homeless.

There’s also toiletries, some donated by friends and other kind souls, which she hands out to the needy.
