This intense footage is sure to have you on the edge of your seat! DWR conservation officer Mark Elkins received a call about a cougar caught in a bobcat trap. It’s illegal to trap a cougar in Utah, so when trappers found a mountain lion in a trap they’re required by law to release the animal, or notify authorities within 48 hours.
Usually Elkins uses a tranquilizer dart when doing this particular job, but he can’t always have one when he goes to remote areas. Using only catch poles and plenty of gumption, Elkins approaches the cat to free him. Fortunately, both Elkins and the cougar were unharmed.
Good job to officer Elkins! Please SHARE this cougar’s release with your friends.
