Jason Ward is a tattooist at Muscle And Ink Tattoo in Hamilton, New Zealand. Every single Friday for the past 4 months, Suzie Barry would come into his shop and get a tattoo for free.
Don’t worry, they’re stick-on tattoos which she brings with her every time she visits. Jason said she prefers Maori designs.
Suzie has Down Syndrome, and she loves showing off her “ink” to everyone at the vocational day facility she attends.
Faith in humanity restored!
Jason reminds us that the small acts of kindness matter. Every week, when Suzie comes over, he treats her as if she were a real client, sitting her down, applying stencil on her skin, and giving her the full tattoo experience complete with plastic gloves and a spray gun to make it more convincing.

Jason talked to the New Zealand Herald and this is what he told them:
“The first time she came in, she just walked in, slapped a couple of stick-on tattoo packets on the desk and asked me to put them on her arm. I said, ‘what?’ And she said it again so I sat her down and put them on.”
“It started out as something quite funny though, I mean, who does that? Who walks into a tattoo shop to get stick on tattoos? But if she was a member of my family and she had have walked into another tattoo shop and they had told her to bugger off, I’d be angry. Why would you say no?”
“You should treat everybody the same. She’s just started to get a little more comfortable now, and I try and engage with her more to get her talking. I didn’t even know her name until Monday, when everything went nuts on the internet but I still don’t know a lot about her.”
